On Wednesday 11th May, three students; Ciara Murphy, Scott Crosbie, Ellen Mc Donagh, and their teacher Louise Loughlin attended the AIVA stadium where over 600 hundred young people from youth groups, Youthreachs, and primary and secondary schools from all over the country attended the annual creative competition awards ceremony. The competition called on young people to develop creative messages about racism and integration using written, visual and audiovisual means. Prizes were awarded for entries ranging from songs and raps to posters, videos, and social media campaigns.
Ballymun Youthreach had success with their entry and were presented with an award of Special Commendation. The students created a 3D Globe titled ‘Mapping Diversity’ to represent a celebration of a multicultural society.
The ceremony was MCed by sports presenter Tommy Martin. Special guests included Steve Guppy, coach to the Irish football team, Cllr. Cieran Perry, Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin, John Boyle, Vice-President of INTO and Razan Ibraheem, a Syrian journalist based in Ireland.
